There is something so calming as soon as you set foot on the land at Vedanta. The wind blows through the trees and you let out a sigh of the busy and hectic life of these days. The programs held here take you deeply and nourishingly into yourself. They are held with the utmost reverence as time-honored tradition meets the realities and needs of those of us in the west. Reminding us of the power we carry within us when we slow down and tune in. The absolutely luxurious accommodations carry you further into relaxation, while the absolutely delicious vegetarian cooking brings warmth and satisfaction to your body. Deepak Swarup who oversees the grounds and the programs welcomes you with radiance, wisdom, and humor. And you feel so held by the magic of it all. The hiking is so beautifully meditative on the 24 acres of land, with more available with the sequoias nearby. And soaking in the natural public hot springs facility down the road is not to be missed! Deeply restorative to the body!

The land offers solace too, whether you are hiking the Sequoia National Park or soaking in the CA hot springs, both of which are within minutes of the center. Beautiful quiet place in nature with high end accommodations, gourmet food, and friendly staff. Lots of hiking trails around and a public hot spring close by. Highly recommended, have been several times and will continue to come back!

This was my first retreat at Vedanta and it was truly transformative. I needed some spiritual healing after separating from my husband of 20 years, and it has given me the tools to navigate this rocky road. Not only was the content nurturing, but so too were the space and the food.

The space: this is a beautifully restored ranch home with the best of everything. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. The towels and blankets were soft. Each bathroom has a bidet. The shower was amazing, although it took some time to figure it out! The kitchen is every gourmet’s dream. The yoga studio is beautiful. Everywhere you look, there is beauty. And the grounds, well, they border the Sequoia National Forest. You can walk forever in pure bliss.

The food: excellent! Not just nourishing, but absolutely delicious. I didn’t know that vegan food could actually be enjoyable. I had seconds, and sometimes thirds, at almost every meal. And I left feeling much healthier than when I arrived.

The content: it works if you use it. It has been 2 months since I attended. At that time, I was ‘too busy’ one week to do my morning routine and that is the week that I fell apart. What I learned there is keeping me grounded and whole during one of the most difficult times of my life.

Much thanks and gratitude to Deepak for creating such a beautiful and healing space. I can’t wait to come back!
