Yogic Cooking, Lifestyle & Movement Retreat

Dates: 14th to 17th July 2023 | Duration: 4 days / 3 nights

Yogic Cooking1

Yoga and Ayurveda, once inseparable, combined to create an ancient and Holistic system that was the Science of Life.

This science is based on laws of nature that are as applicable today as they were thousands of years ago. In the Science of Yoga, a healthy life is born of learning to live in a “Sattvic” way – physically, energetically, emotionally and spiritually. To do this we must first Pause and Slow Down enough to prioritize our own wellbeing. In our modern lives, we can find ourselves busied in an attempt to fulfill our “duties”, often completing all of these tasks without time or thought of self-care and fulfillment. This way of life can find us on autopilot with little energy left to even cook a healthy meal for ourselves. We find ourselves rushing and getting take-out food, eating our meals in the car while we drive or perhaps in front of the TV while we watch a nervous system-rattling show like Game of Thrones. This leads to a life of imbalances born of Rajasic and Tamasic ways in this scientific system. In order to move back to a state of sattvic balance we must understand the importance of how our relationship to food, the way we spend our time, as well as how our modern sedentary habits and connection to nature, are affecting us.

This retreat aims to have you Experience a sattvic way of life.....

from the moment of waking up until falling into a deep comfortable sleep in our beautiful accommodations. Each day will be choreographed as a Yogic Flow to enable you to experience yourself, nurtured moment to moment, through each process. You will have the experience of harmony from the moment you rise to the way you connect with your food and eat your meals and the way you move throughout the day until you are yoked into a deep comfortable sleep through Yoga Nidra and Sound bathing. We aim to share practical tools for you to take home with you that will make a real difference in your current and future health and well-being.

EXPERIENCE A SATTVIC WAY OF LIFE
In the Kitchen

In the Kitchen:

We will spend part of the day in the kitchen breaking down some important principles of Vegetarian and Ayurvedic cooking like; learning to sprout, what spices and foods to use, their benefits and where to get them. You will learn to cook at least 3 Ayurvedic meals with us and will go home with many other recipes to experiment with.

On the Lifestyle front:

The entire flow of the retreat will be an example of a healthy and balanced lifestyle. In addition, you will be taught some very simple and important self-care practices that are intrinsic to nourishing and balancing as well as preventing diseases in the human body like abhyanga, oil pulling, and water therapy.

On the Lifestyle front1
Movement and Mindfulness practices

Movement and Mindfulness practices:

These two concepts with be fused together to create Conscious Movement Practices. All sessions will be accessible for all body-mind types, ranging from daily Pranayam, Meditation, Gentle and Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra to outdoor Forest Bathing Exercises. Everything we do in this weekend retreat will combine to move and cleanse your body down to the cellular level.

We aim to keep all aspects of this retreat simple and digestible to offer you the space to imbibe what you are learning. In this way, you can go home with some clarity on how to implement the experiences that resonate with you.

Your guides Kristin and Deepak are the Hosts of Vedanta and have been guiding powerful retreats together for years. This retreat is born of their work together as well as a constant question arising on the retreats, “Do you have a cookbook and when can we learn how to cook this?”
